Fall has arrived, the temperatures are beginning to decline, and the humidity levels should begin to drop (hopefully!).

That’s great news for everyone who loves cool weather. But unfortunately, cool weather comes with a few downsides, one of which is dry skin.

If you deal with dry and flakey skin, it’s important to find an all-natural moisturizer to keep your skin nourished in the dry-weather months.

It can be a challenge to find a product that works well for your skin. And not only is purchasing lotion after lotion expensive, but many lotions also contain harmful chemicals that can damage your skin, make you sick, or give you a rash.

To give you a hand, I’d like to share some of my favorite recipes and recommendations for all-natural moisturizers with you. Not only are they easy to make, but they also contain only natural ingredients that soothe, heal, and protect your skin.

Check out the following recommendations and recipes.

Jojoba and Apricot Seed Oil

This first moisturizer is my personal favorite. It’s a simple blend of my two favorite moisturizing oils, jojoba and apricot seed oil.

I love using jojoba oil because it’s an oil that closely mimics the natural oils in your skin.

Ingredients:

  • Jojoba oil
  • Apricot seed oil

Directions:

#1. Place a few drops of each oil in your palms.

#2. Mix together.

#3. Moisturize skin as necessary.

Coconut Oil

Using coconut oil as a moisturizer is just about as easy as it gets. Simply find a container of organic coconut oil at your grocery store, and you’re ready to go.

I recommend coconut oil because it is gentle and extremely safe to use. So safe that it’s one of the best moisturizer to use on your face.

Coconut oil is filled with antioxidants which nourish the skin. It also has antibacterial properties which help keep the skin clean and healthy.

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar organic coconut oil

Directions:

#1. Warm a small spoonful of coconut oil in your hands.

#2. Lather over your entire body. Use more oil as needed to soothe your dry skin.

#3. Let it soak into your skin and leave it on. There is no need to wash off this nourishing oil.

All-Natural Lotion Bar Recipe

Lotion bars are great all-natural moisturizers to have around when you quickly need to apply some moisture to your skin. Throw a lotion bar in a baggy or container, and you can take it with you anywhere.

The lotion bar recipe I recommend contains a mixture of two main ingredients: coconut oil and shea butter. Shea butter is filled with vitamins and will leave your skin feeling silky smooth.

Here’s the recipe…

Ingredients:

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

Directions:

#1. Combine all ingredients in a double boiler, or a glass bowl over a smaller saucepan with 1 inch of water in it.

#2. Turn the burner on and bring water to a boil. Stir ingredients constantly until they are melted and smooth.

#3. Remove from heat and add the essential oils.

#4. Gently stir by hand until essential oils are incorporated.

#5. Carefully pour into molds or whatever you will be allowing the lotion bars to harden in. Silicone baking cups work well.

#6. Allow the lotion bars to cool completely before attempting to pop out of molds.

Oatmeal Bath Moisturizer

Routine oatmeal baths are a great way to keep your body moisturized from head to toe. In fact, you can also scrub your head with oatmeal to moisturize your scalp and prevent dandruff in the dry season.

Oatmeal is such a good moisturizer because it contains polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water and leave a fine protective film on the skin. This prevents the skin from becoming dull, flaky, and dry.

Ingredients:

  • 1 container old-fashioned oats

Directions:

#1. Fill a bath with warm water.

#2. Add 1-2 cups of old fashioned oats.

#3. Soak in oatmeal water for 20-30 minutes.
