In the bible we read, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so shall he be.” Over the past thirty years numerous studies have confirmed the truth of this ancient proverb. Scientists have discovered that the mind really does affect our physical body. High levels of chronic stress, for example, severely compromise the integrity of our immune systems. In fact, how we think and what we think about not only influences our health but also our self-esteem, our job performance and our relationships.

Unwittingly, we hypnotize ourselves everyday with the words we say and the thoughts we think. For example, if you constantly say “I can’t lose weight no matter what I do” you’re only going to create more frustration and failure in your life. Indeed, you’ll very likely attract situations, lifestyle choices and people that will only confirm this negative belief.

It is our thoughts that drive our emotions, our attitudes and our behaviors. The good news is that every thought can be changed. You can eliminate the very attitudes and beliefs that prevent you from reaching your most important health and wellness goals by putting your attention on your words, mental pictures and internal dialogue.

Each of us has tens of thousands of thoughts each day. (Brain researchers estimate that we have 50,000, in fact.) As spring approaches, I want to encourage you to do some mental spring cleaning. To do this, simply challenge your self-talk. Ask yourself…”Is this thought positive and productive or is it negative and self-defeating?” If you identify a thought or a group of thoughts that do not serve you, simply dump them.

Now is a great time to get rid of all the mental “junk” that is standing in the way of you achieving the healthy body that you desire and deserve. If you’d like personalized help in doing so, please call Carolinas Natural Health to schedule an appointment.
